Family Inclusion Network working with Parents and Families
Contact Family Inclusion Network if:
- you are a parent or family member who has had child safety experience in the last 5 years
- you would like to have a say about how services or policies could better support families
- you are interested in becoming an advocate for children, families and yourself
- you would like to influence policy for eg child protection, education, housing, domestic and family violence, culture or any other issues affecting family life.
If the Family Inclusion Network is right for you, you can be involved in a number of ways.
We hold Parent Cafes, where groups of parents get together to discuss issues that impact on families. We can keep you updated with ways that you can give your feedback to government and non-government family services through surveys, forums and focus groups.
The Parent Leadership Training Institute is a 20-week program that works with parents and kin to be leaders and advocates for children and themselves. Through the program, you will learn communication, leadership, project management and civic skills that will help you become a leader in your community.
The Family Inclusion Network welcomes new members and will regularly update you with ways that parents can connect with each other, upcoming events and opportunities to have your say.
You choose how you would like to be involved.
You can attend any Family Inclusion Network activities as often as you are able to. We will support you to attend activities by helping you with transport and childcare if you need it.
The Family Inclusion Network (FIN) is always wanting to build our membership base of parents with experience of Queensland's child protection/child safety system. In addition to becoming a FIN-member, you may also want to be considered for any future membership vacancies on the statewide Queensland Parent Advisory Committee (the QPAC).
